My Editing Service

"Books aren't written -- they're rewritten. Including your own."
~Michael Crichton~

Content Edit:
Think freelance editor, super-power critique partner, and helpful proofreader rolled into one. I will evaluate your manuscript's content and story arc, give extensive feedback on writing style, provide detailed rewrite suggestions, assess characters and plot lines, address specific questions you have on your manuscript, and provide a running commentary throughout your work. A content edit will be helpful whatever the stage of your writing--if you're ready to query, find yourself stuck and needing new direction, have recently finished a first draft, or are anywhere in between.
Fee for a Content Edit:  $100 per 10,000 words

My Qualifications:
I am a licensed English/Language Arts teacher for grades 7-12 and have a B.A. in English Education. Teaching literature and writing classes and critiquing writing have been part of my life for over 20 years. And, I am a writer. I know just how much effort goes into writing and rewriting.

Test the Waters:
I am willing to begin with the first 10,000 words of your manuscript, for the fee stated above. If you like my work, we will continue with the rest of your manuscript. If you're not satisfied, we won't continue. The decision is all yours. I'm also willing to work with partial manuscripts; that decision is yours as well.

Manuscripts I Accept:
My background lies with middle grade and young adult literature; therefore, I feel most comfortable and confident with these genres. If your manuscript is one of these genres, I will work with it. If you write for adults, my arm can be twisted--mostly it depends on your genre.
